Training and Development
KPO’s investment in Karachaganak is not just limited to the development of this vast field. We are also investing in the future of both the Republic of Kazakhstan and its people.
We know that the development of our workforce is critical to our continued success. Attracting and retaining qualified and competent staff is very challenging in today’s environment, but we have put in place long term development programmes and we are pushing forward with our nationalisation agenda.
Since signing the Final Production Sharing Agreement (FPSA), KPO have invested over US$168 million in training and development initiatives. During this period we have also trained in excess of 260,000 employees and graduates.
KPO takes a competency based approach to the training and development of its staff. This means that all our activities are driven by the underpinning knowledge and skills (competence) required to undertake individual roles and responsibilities.
Training is designed to develop the knowledge and skill base of KPO staff. Gap analyses are regularly carried out to assess an individual’s potential to assume additional responsibilities.
Where knowledge or skill gaps are identified, further training and development is proposed to assist the individual in achieving the required level of competence.
