In his last role, Gabriele worked as KPO Deputy General Director / Operations Director.

Marat Karimov
Vice General Director

Marat Karimov possesses deep knowledge and practical experience of implementation of key tasks and application of the RoK legal and administrative requirements.

Prior to KPO, Marat Karimov worked as Deputy Governor of the Western Kazakhstan Region and was responsible for the key spheres in the region’s development, including oil and gas sector, investments, innovations, external affairs and industry.

Marat Karimov studied at the Atyrau Oil and Gas Institute and the US universities of Oklahoma and Louisiana. His professional career in the oil and gas sector began in 1994. Over the past years he has occupied a number of senior positions in the industry, including director of the department of the North-Caspian project JSC OOC “KazMunayTeniz”, first deputy general director of the same company, deputy general director of “KMG Kashagan B.V.”, the general manager of exploration projects of National Company “KazMunayGas” and others.

Edoardo Stefano Mauri
Finance Director

Edoardo has been working with Eni since 2010. Prior the current appointment he held the post of Director of Finance at Eni Algeria. Edoardo has worked at various managerial positions during the last decade, during which he has gained an extensive international experience in the area of IFRS Accounting, Taxes, Planning and Reporting. Edoardo has also worked as Finance Director in various countries worldwide including Algeria, Iraq, Congo and Iran.

Koert Vonkeman

Marketing Director

Koert has been working for Shell and its subsidiaries since 1985. Before this appointment, he held the position of Vice President for Carbon Capture and Sequestration in Den Haag, Shell Head Office. Koert has extensive experience in marketing, commercial and business development.

His professional background includes managerial roles in Shell affiliates in Netherlands, UK, Brazil, Oman, Japan, Indonesia and Russia.

Nurzhan Kamalov
Government Relations Director

Nurzhan has over 20-years work experience at the Karachaganak Project. During his long career in the oil and gas industry Nurzhan took a number of top managerial positions in the Karachaganak Venture. His recent posts include Government Relations & Corporate Affairs Executive Controller and Corporate & HSE Controller. Currently Nurzhan is responsible for the government relations and external affairs including key relationships with the RoK Authority, government bodies, international and national media. Nurzhan has been the Chairman of the Kazakhstan Petroleum Association’s Board of Directors from 2007 till 2012 inclusive.

Liana Rupnik
Legal Director

Liana has an extensive international experience in the area of Legal Management. Her last appointment was Legal Manager for Project Finance and Mozambique Procurement (Eni spa, UK). Over the past years Liana has occupied a number of senior positions in the industry, including Legal Manager for Kazakhstan, Eni E&P (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).

Luca Mori
Project Execution Director

Luca has more than 19 years of experience across  operational, technical areas and over ten years in management roles on a number of ENI assets in foreign countries including Kashagan Project in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. In his last role, Luca worked as  ENI S.p.A VP Operational Interface for Execution Phase (OPIE).

Farid Nabavi
KPO Project Development Director

Farid has more than 30 years of International E&P experience and over 12 years in managerial roles on a number of Shell assets in Oman, Netherlands and Kuwait. Over the last 5 years, Farid has worked as Engineering Manager at Shell Kuwait E&P B.V.

Laura Schmidt
Supply Chain Director

Laura started in Shell in 1990 and has worked in a variety of roles across the globe. Her experience includes various engineering, operations and commercial positions. Laura has considerable experience within Oil & Gas Industry including domestic and international assignments such as USA, Russia, Nigeria and Netherlands.

Laura holds a B.S in Mechanical Engineering, an M.S. in Environmental Engineering, and a J.D. (specializing in environmental law and patent law). She is a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical), Patent Attorney and General Attorney in Colorado and Texas and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS).
