On the unscheduled environmental inspection results

According to the established state reporting, during 2023 and in the II, III and IV quarters of 2022, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. recorded excessive emissions at the KOGCF production facilities in the amount of 264.2 tonnes. Moreover, excessive discharges of 0.15 tonnes were recorded in the II and III quarters of 2022 and in the III Q of 2023. The cases were timely reported to the West Kazakhstan Oblast Environmental Department and the Company made relevant tax payments for these emissions in full compliance with the RK legislation. According to the results of the unscheduled environmental inspection, conducted in December 2024 by the RSI ‘West Kazakhstan Oblast Environmental Department of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan’, the Company was brought to administrative responsibility under part 1 of Article 328 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the revealed violations of limits of permissible human impact on the environment.  The fine imposed for excessive emissions amounted to KZT 713,968,368 (seven hundred thirteen million nine hundred sixty-eight thousand three hundred sixty-eight). The fine for excessive discharges amounted to KZT 25,600,440 (twenty-five million six hundred thousand four hundred and forty). Meanwhile, the Company continues to fully implement a set of environmental measures aimed at compliance with the established emissions limits and further reduction of the production activities’ impact on the environment.
