KPO showcases environmental achievements at “Taza Kazakhstan” Exhibition

ASTANA, Republic of Kazakhstan, April 21, 2025 – Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) has participated in the National “Taza Kazakhstan” event, an initiative that promotes sustainability and responsible environmental leadership across the country. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Culture and Information, and other senior government officials.

 

At the exhibition among the RoK leading enterprises, KPO has demonstrated that Environmental responsibility is not just a goal – it’s a core value. The Company’s pavilion showcased a remarkable progress achieved over the past years in such areas as methane emissions reduction, biodiversity protection, waste management, and advanced environmental monitoring technologies.

 

President Tokayev was briefed on KPO achievements and implemented initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact. The highlights brought to attention of the Head of the State were the Forestry project run by KPO which has already contributed to the planting of 1.5 million trees, and a target to plant additional 350,000 trees within the field and sanitary protection zone; the participation of KPO employees in Taza Kazakhstan campaign, the capacity, and advantages of KPO Eco-centre and $450 million invested by KPO in environmental protection.

 

As KPO General Director, Marco Marsili said “KPO is proud to contribute to Taza Kazakhstan and to the country’s sustainable future and to be one of the industry leaders in environmental stewardship”. KPO’s participation in the exhibition emphasises its ongoing commitment to responsible operations and alignment with Kazakhstan’s environmental and decarbonization strategy.
