KPO hosts a group of environmental activists and NGOs

Aksai, 16 May, 2025 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. hosted a group of WKO public stakeholders as part of their environmental visit to the Karachaganak Field.  The delegation comprised several NGO’s, environmental activists, maslikhat deputies and heads of nearby rural communities. The trip was organized within the framework of «Taza Kazakhstan» national campaign aimed at improving the environment and raising the public’s awareness.

 

 

 

The main purpose of the visit was to familiarize with KPO’s ongoing environmental activities and how they comply with environmental regulations. The participants were also interested in the company’s sustainability initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

 

 

 

As part of the program, the guests visited the KPO Eco-Centre, a major facility designated for processing, sorting and treatment of industrial and domestic waste. The facility meets all international standards and allows KPO to minimize the impact on environment. During the tour, the visitors were briefed about KPO’s approaches to waste management and emission reduction based on application of latest technologies.

 

 

 

The guests appreciated the scale of environmental activities and introduction of «green» technologies at Karachaganak. During the discussion that ensued, KPO experts took questions from the audience across the entire spectrum of environmental topics. The meeting was conducted in a very friendly atmosphere, and the conversation was open and honest. Upon conclusion, the visitors shared that the trip was very informative and such meetings would certainly help to better understand the details of subsoil use operations, and therefore, enhance the level of environmental awareness and trust on the part of population.
