Aksai, West Kazakhstan Oblast, April 25, 2026 – “Karachaganak Petroleum Operating b.v.” (KPO) regularly performs activities on site improving within sanitary protection zone based on tree planting and environmental improvement projects.

Works on tree planting are planned on following sites this year:

• Creation of new forest belts within estimated sanitary protection zone behind Unit 3 towards Zhanatalap village in the square of 20.4 ha, 13 sites – 67320 seedlings.

• Restoration of existing forest belts near Uspenka (Uspenovka) village in the square of 26.4 ha, 13 sites – 87120 seedlings.

KPO started works on tree planting and environment improvements of estimated sanitary protection zone on Karachaganak field in 2023 in accordance with Technical Environmental Support Project of Sanitary Protection Zone. The next stage is to organize and improve the estimated sanitary protection zone which is planned to be completed by  2028 and includes works on restoration of existing and creation of new green planting, and activities on taking care of existing and new forest planting.

Forest shelterbelts play a very important role by exerting a positive influence on the microclimate of adjacent fields, as well as on moisture distribution (runoff of precipitation in liquid form and drift in solid form) and the yields of agricultural crops.
