Health, safety and asset integrity are critical success factors in developing and operating any oil, gas and condensate field. As a socially responsible company, KPO is fully committed to maintaining effective HSE culture. Every employee of KPO and contracting organisations must return home safely and there must be no leaks in our facilities.

All oil and gas operations carry inherent safety risks: at Karachaganak, this challenge is compounded by extreme temperature fluctuations, the high hydrogen sulphide content in the hydrocarbons we produce and process, and high-pressure sour gas injection.

Good health and safety of the KPO employees is a critical part and focus of its business. We have achieved ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management) certifications and work towards maintaining them. Continual improvement and commitment is KPO’s priority in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce.

KPO HSE requirements are extensively communicated and included in the specific schedule of all our contracts. Relevant procedures are in place to mitigate possible risks and ascertain KPO’s activities are safely implemented. In case an incident takes place, a robust process is established and formalized ensuring all notifications are issued in a timely manner.

KPO has an extensive range of HSE trainings, programmes, initiatives and campaigns undertaken on annual basis. These include but not limited to inductions, job specific training, and programmes, such as Safety Leadership Improvement Journey, HSE Card, HSE Incentive Scheme, Health Risk Assessment and other.
