KPO held introduction workshop for local businesses

URALSK, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 24 May, 2016 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) held an awareness-raising workshop for representatives of Kazakhstani businesses on the Karachaganak Debottlenecking Project.

The main objective of the event was to brief the local goods producers and service suppliers on opportunities of participation in this project through establishment of joint ventures between interested local and international companies.

The event was conducted in close cooperation with PSA, LLP Authority and Akimat of West Kazakhstan Oblast.

The workshop was attended by representatives of more than 40 local producers, state authorities and industry-specific associations including NADLoC Agency and Kazakhstan Service Companies’ Association.

KPO representatives briefed the workshop participants on the Karachaganak Debottlenecking Project and the company’s needs in steel structures, oil and gas and electrical equipment, and the forthcoming scope of work for construction of project’s facilities which could be potentially implemented by Kazakhstani enterprises.

The representatives of local companies have expressed confidence that the workshop will serve as a good platform for familiarization with the Karachaganak Debottlenecking Project and provide local businesses with an incentive to produce goods and services in accordance with KPO requirements in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the event, KPO representatives responded to questions raised by the participants at roundtables concerning the planned procurement of goods and contracts for works and services for the project, local content requirements, procedures of registration in supplier’s database, as well as supplier pre-qualification procedures and KPO tender requirements.

The participants of the workshop also familiarized themselves with the work of West Kazakhstan manufacturers of electrical equipment and structural steel.

KPO is one of the first companies in Kazakhstan, which has successfully implemented a local content programme.  This has allowed involvement of 3700 of Kazakhstani enterprises, which have obtained contractual orders from KPO amounting to over $5.5 billion in the Karachaganak field development.
