Visit of North Kazakhstan Oblast representatives to Karachaganak

AKSAI, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 7 September, 2016 - The business community delegation from North Kazakhstan Oblast headed by Ratmir Akhmetov, Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan, has paid a return visit to the Karachaganak Field and held a working meeting with Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) company. The visit was arranged as part of the development of interregional cooperation. It is to be recalled that this is not the first contact - KPO delegation visited Petropavlovsk in order to get acquainted with the industrial potential of the region in June this year.

During the meeting, an overview of current KPO production activity and company’s plans for the future were delivered to the visitors. Also, KPO representatives provided information regarding the company achievements in local content development and procedures for pre - qualification of suppliers. In their turn, industrial enterprises of North Kazakhstan region held a presentation of their production capabilities, including in terms of manufacturing oil and gas equipment as per the requirements of KPO.

Renato Maroli, KPO General Director, noted that KPO considers commitments in supporting development of local industrial potential as an integral part of its activities. Thus, over the last year KPO management visited a number of the regions in Kazakhstan in order to present company's needs in goods and services to local producers, mainly among oilfield services and engineering companies. During the meetings procedures for the registration in KPO local supplier’s database and other tools for cooperation were also presented.

“We welcome every opportunity to expand the list of our business partners and are looking forward to establishing new mutually beneficial relationships within the framework of inter-regional cooperation”, added Renato Maroli.

Ratmir Akhmetov, Deputy Akim of the North Kazakhstan, in his turn expressed hope that this visit will be the beginning of successful cooperation of the consortium with manufacturers from North Kazakhstan Oblast.

During the visit, the guests also got acquainted with operation of the main industrial facilities in Karachaganak field.

More than 3,800 Kazakhstani suppliers are currently registered in KPO vendor database.

According to the half year results, the proportion of local content in KPO contracts for the supply of goods, works and services exceeded 49%, which correspond to $280 million in monetary terms.  On the whole, since signing the FPSA in 1997, the share of local content in KPO procurement exceeded $5.7 billion.
