KPO took part in "KazNefteGazService-2018" Conference

ATYRAU, Atyrau Oblast, 16 March, 2018 – Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) took part in the 7th Annual Conference "KazNefteGasService 2018" that was held in the city of Atyrau.

The Conference was organised by the “Union of Oilfield Service Companies of Kazakhstan”.  The event’s agenda focused on the participation of local companies on engineering and construction issues in the oil and gas industry.

Along with representatives of large subsoil user companies working in the country, the Conference was attended by the representatives of the RoK Ministry of Energy, local authorities, executives and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan.

KPO was represented by General Director, Renato Maroli,  Project Execution Director, Robert Shelton, Supply Chain Director, Lorenzo Tomada and Local Business Development Controller, Beibit Sabirov.

As Renato Maroli noted “KPO and Karachaganak Partners fully support the RoK Government’s plans and initiatives, aimed at enhancing local content. By doing so KPO also contributes to the implementation of “Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy” and the Third Modernization.

In close co-operation with WKO Akimat and the Authority, over the last 2 years, as part of Local Content Development Program, KPO has localised and started procurement of 10 new goods, also 21 types of Works and Services previously performed by international contractors,”, he added.

As part of inter-regional cooperation, KPO awarded 11 contracts to regional companies.

“In 2017 KPO also achieved record local content numbers for the procurement of goods, works and services which reached 54.1 per cent, or in monetary terms around $400 million. In general, since the signing of the FPSA in 1997, the share of local content in KPO procurement has exceeded $6.5 billion. KPO’s commitment to local content is even manifested in daily life of its personnel, including the top-management”.

“Currently KPO is performing economic and technical assessment of Karachaganak project expansion options which will enable to keep current production.  Implementation of this project will be coupled with the inflow of new investments, introduction of innovative technologies, creation of additional jobs and opportunities for Kazakhstani enterprises”, said Renato Maroli.

KPO is actively promoting the development of local suppliers of goods and services, and implementing a number of projects and initiatives aimed at supporting local producers.

In 2016-2017 2017, KPO completed a number of tenders, wherein to establish joint ventures between foreign and Kazakhtani oilfield service companies was mandatory.  As a result, nine joint ventures have been established to perform a number of complex well operations and the respective contracts have been signed.

“KPO is committed to the RoK government local content initiatives that create conditions for development of production of more complex high technology products in the Republic of Kazakhstan which can meet long-term demand of Kazakhstani companies and joint ventures”, added Renato Maroli.
