ATYRAU, Atyrau Oblast, 20 September 2019 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) took part in a joint “Localization of original equipment manufactures goods” (OEM) forum with involvement of major oil & gas operators (Tengizchevroil, NCOC), which was held in the city of Atyrau.

The event was organized at the initiative of the RoK Ministry of Energy and PSA LLP.

The main objective of the forum is to promote growth and development of Kazakhstani machine building market by localizing Original Equipment Manufacturers goods and equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, PSA Authority, local executive bodies, Machine building Union of Kazakhstan, local machine building companies and representatives of the international Original Equipment Manufactures working in Kazakhstan.

Addressing the Forum attendees, KPO General Director Edwin Blom emphasized that KPO and the Karachaganak Partners take very seriously and support the RoK Government’s plans and initiatives aimed at the development of the Local Content and industrial innovations of the country in close collaboration with the RoK Authorities.

“We mainly focus on the fostering local suppliers’ capacity building through sustainable development and skills transfer. They are central to the way we work. Over the last several years, KPO has been steadily building up the Local Content share in KPO current activities and in the Projects. This strategy applies to all areas and activities. Our efforts are resulted in improvement of Local Content performance from 47% in 2014 to 60% in 2018”, said Edwin Blom.

During the forum, KPO Vice General Director Marat Karimov, has presented a brief overview of KPO's achievements in the development of Local Content in Goods, Works and Services over the past three years, as well as approaches and strategies in the localization of original equipment manufacturers under KPO Local Content Development Program.

Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between KPO, the Ministry of Energy and PSA LLP has become one of the highlights of the event. The purpose of the Memorandum is to increase local production in procurement of goods from the Original Equipment Manufacturers.
