AKSAI, West Kazakhstan oblast, 28 November 2019 – The Ambassador of Italy in Kazakhstan, Mr. Pasquale D’ Avino, visited  the Karachaganak gas and condensate field as part of a short-term working visit to the West Kazakhstan Oblast (WKO).   Mr. Luca Vignati, Executive Vice President, Central Asia Region of Eni and Mr. Biagio Pietraroia, Managing Director of Agip Karachaganak B.V. accompanied H.E. the Italian Ambassador.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize  with KPO  people and activities.

During the meeting, Gabriele Giona, KPO Deputy General Director / Operations Director, presented an overview of company’s achievements in 2019 in terms of safety, operations and projects under execution. It was also an opportunity to give an overview of the further development plans for the Karachaganak field as well as to show the KPO’s key role  in social and economic development of West Kazakhstan region.

During the meeting it was remarked the successful partnership and cooperation with WKO Akimat having as main objective a long-term sustainable development in terms of  industrial safety, labour, environmental protection and local capacity development.

As part of the visit, the dignitaries visited the Karachaganak field facilities including the Karachaganak Processing Complex, and the construction sites of the 4th Injection Compressor and the Karachaganak Debottlenecking Project. At the end of the visit, he the Italian Ambassador remarked the strategic role of KPO in the WKO region but in general in all Kazakhstan. H.E. was impressed by the level of complexity of the project, by the best in class technology and at the same time pleased by the excellent teamwork spirit and for the strong attitude in delivering high-level results that allow to make KPO a well-recognized World Class Operator. All the high-ranking guests thanked KPO for hospitality and wished all company’s employees further success in the development of the Karachaganak project.
