NUR-SULTAN, February 04, 2020 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) today held a Forum “Cooperation on the machinery manufacturing in partnership with companies from the Republic of Tatarstan”.

The event was organized in close cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan and supported by the RoK Ministry of Energy, West Kazakhstan Oblast Akimat and PSA LLC.

The Forum was attended by representatives of the Kazakhstan’s major oil and gas field Operators Tengizchevroil LLP (‘TCO’), North Caspian Operating Company N.V., National Company KAZAKH INVEST JSC, and local machine building companies.

The purpose of this event is to build up and develop new production of domestic goods in the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of cooperation with Tatarstan companies.

KPO General Director Edwin Blom, in his address to the Forum attendees, emphasized that this Forum would allow for dialogue to explore potential opportunities for future partnership. This will provide new ideas, contacts and wider opportunities for joint production of new goods and services for the Karachaganak field.

As KPO Vice General Director Marat Karimov noted “West Kazakhstan Oblast, the region where Karachaganak Oil & Gas Condensate Field is located, provides the principal area for joint activities. We, therefore, wish to discuss the opportunities and initiatives offered by WKO senior executives for further cooperation and business development for the attraction of foreign investors”.

“Today, we look forward to welcoming Tatarstan’s engineering and equipment manufacturers who are interested in localizing their Goods and Services in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to launch joint production of their technology goods under “Made in Kazakhstan” brand”, added Edwin Blom.

This Forum is the continuation of the previous visit of representatives from the WKO Akimat, KPO and PSA LLP Authorities to the Republic of Tatarstan which aimed to explore the experience of the Republic of Tatarstan in oil and gas import substitution, held in October 2019.

During the Forum, agreements were signed on establishment of Consortium between KazMunaiKhim LLP (RoK) and Mirrico (Tatarstan), KazMunaiKhim LLP (RoK) and NefTekh (Tatarstan) companies.

KPO is already has close engagements and connections with The UK Department of Investment, The Association of Dutch Suppliers in the Oil and Gas Industry and Offshore Renewable Industry (IRO) and Trade and The Chamber of Commerce Kazakhstan-Italy, which have allowed KPO to achieve several localization successes resulting in new enterprises, new job opportunities for Kazakhstani citizens. KPO believes that this Forum will be basis for long-term relationship between international and Kazakh companies.

KPO and the Karachaganak Partners take very seriously and support the RoK Government’s plans and initiatives aimed at the development of Local Content and industrial innovations in the country.
