KPO supported the StudentDigitalFest intellectual team competition

NUR-SULTAN, 27 February 2020 - The award ceremony for the winners of the StudentDigitalFest intellectual team competition was successfully held today. The event was organized by the KAZENERGY Association with sponsorship and technical support of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V (KPO).

The competition was mainly aimed at fulfilment of tasks intended to help companies in the oil and gas and energy sectors in developing and improving human capital, qualified personnel in the industry, by supporting initiatives and innovative projects of youth regarding innovative projects / technological solutions in the field of digitalization.

Addressing the contestants, KPO General Director Edwin Blom said: "The Program of Innovative Development “Digital Kazakhstan” was launched by the RoK Government two years ago. However, KPO had launched its digitalisation activities even prior to that. It’s just that the boost from the RoK Government and the significant accent that Karachaganak partners were putting on the digitalization aspect in their own strategies, we could further apply digitalisation in all internal strategies of the company and widen our awareness in significant opportunities of digitalisation".

“Our future belongs to the young generation, and today, like never before, it is important to guide young people towards finding solutions that, on the one hand, would allow them to prove themselves, and on the other, would have practical significance for the country and society,” said KAZENERGY Association General Director, Bolat Akchulakov.

The competition was held among Bachelor and Master degrees students   of technical specialties of Kazakhstan’s higher educational institutions. It was supposed to have breakthrough ideas developed by interested participants in categories specified by the conditions of the competition, and ideas protected before the jury.

Representatives of sixteen student teams took part in the final competition. In addition to evaluating the ideas of the projects the jury were entrusted with the task of providing constructive feedback to the participants so that the children would receive further guidelines for the development of these and other ideas and were encouraged to implement them. It was essential to have people with experience in both public administration and business, as well as technical specialists in jury. As a result, the contestants received comprehensive feedbacks on their projects.

Today, we are pleased to share valuable information and international best practices in the Digital field with young people and inspire them to achieve excellence in this field, ”  Edwin Blom noted.

As a result of presentations given by the participants and decisions of the jury, the most functional and original ideas have been selected. The finalists and winners received various prizes and the opportunity to undergo paid industrial training / internships lasting from two to six months in KPO.
