With the COVID-19 outbreaks on the increase worldwide including Kazakhstan and the introduction of the State of Emergency, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) is currently undertaking all possible measures to mitigate the risks of the virus’s spread among its personnel and local community:

KPO is fully compliant with the RoK requirements and is applying all restrictive measures to prevent any possible spread of the disease. We have been working closely with local health authorities to coordinate our activities.

Currently, no KPO employees are suffering or suspected to be infected with COVID-19.  KPO expatriate staff who returned to Kazakhstan to perform their duties have been placed on home isolation in accordance with the RoK requirements for visitors from COVID-impacted countries. The same applies to KPO and contractor employees arriving from the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty.

KPO has stopped arrival of all expats as well as international business trips and trainings, according to recently introduced travel restrictions.

Further, to ensure business continuity, non-business critical national staff of KPO have been mandated to switch to distance work regime.  In the meantime, KPO has banned business meetings and cultural events. No handshake policy will be applied to further reduce the risk of interpersonal transmission.

KPO staff is regularly updated on COVID-19 requirements issued by the authorities, World Health Organisation and practical recommendations.

KPO continues its operations in a safe and responsible manner. At present KPO has all necessary resources, expertise and facilities to implement the quarantine measures as prescribed by the RoK health authorities.

KPO will follow the steer of the RoK authorities and will do everything within its power to deal with COVID-19 in terms of both prevention and treatment.
