The participation on the part of the Karachaganak investors in the development of the oblast is mentioned in the FPSA. This main document regulates relations between the foreign investors and Kazakhstan. KPO allocates USD 10 MM annually for social projects. Not all projects are included in the documents, however. One of these is the work of the sponsorship fund chaired by KPO General Director, Paolo Campelli.

KPO concluded an agreement with the Ak Zhaik LLP on organising recreation for Burlin veterans and children. The children live in a cozy 3-storey house on the bank of the Ural. These 50 children are the second group following the 50 that took part in the programme in June. The children receive treatment here, although most of them are healthy. The children especially like the training gym, where they stand in lines to wait for their turn. The children’s leisure time is also organised along with excursions, trips and competitions. According to the sanatorium physician, M. Akashaev, the mineral waters are most useful for the kids.

The children’s rest depends on the ability and creativity of their teachers, who work to organise useful and interesting activities. Zharsuat teacher, Liliya Rakhimgalieva says this is not the first year that KPO has organised a vacation for the kids. The children want to come here again and again.

The Director of the Burlin Agricultural College, Murat Utemuratov was proud to show the computer room, where 20 computers were provided by KPO, which will be connected to Internet. In addition to agricultural experts, the college now trains oil and gas processing technologists, and the best students serve internships at the field. This is an incentive for good grades. The Charity fund provides assistance to the boarding school in Burlin. The children receive toys, books and clothes.

The Burlin school has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Its renovation and re-equipment was also sponsored by KPO. The KPO PR Manager, Issak Sakeyev presented 6 computers to the school and promised to provide further assistance in the future. Soon, books will also be supplied.

Aksai School No 4 also received video and office equipment. KPO also launched a project for rural kids – the Mobile Arts School. The Levsha School won the tender for this project. The participating children are taught drawing, crafts, and souvenir making. Crafts lessons are conducted twice per week at Priuralnie, Zharsuat, Karachaganak, Berezovka, Zhanatalap, and Uspenovka.

Equipment was also prepared in the rooms. 400 children expressed their wish to participate in lessons at Levsha. When the sponsors come to visit the children, they thanked them in three languages – rakhmet, spasibo and thank you. The ongoing priority for the sponsorship assistance is education, healthcare and culture. KPO allocates a lot of funds for these projects, and refers to these as investments into the future.
