Nur-Sultan, 24-25 September, 2019 – Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. Company (KPO) participated in the SPE Symposium (Society of Petroleum Engineers) dedicated to the Caspian Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Responsibility. This Symposium is held as a part of the Kazakhstan Energy Week2019.

More than 300 representatives of the Caspian oil-and-gas companies participated in the Symposium, as well as the regional and world occupational safety experts. Issues of the rational use of natural resources, social and environmental responsibility were the key topics of discussion. Symposium participants shared the experience practices on introducing the occupational safety innovations.

Representative delegation chaired by Marat Karimov, KPO Vice General Director, participated in the Symposium on behalf of KPO.

During the 1st Panel Session, Marat Karimov delivered a presentation on KPO Environmental Activities, including topics of the air quality monitoring, reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity conservation efforts. Moreover, Marat Karimov reported about KPO involvement in development of the new Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Other KPO specialists also actively spoke at the multiple plenary and technical sessions of the Symposium.

Ruslan Mukangaliyev, KPO Corporate Environment Manager, delivered a presentation on the industrial effluents handling problems in terms of the pollutants rating.

Gulnara Daulova, KPO Corporate Safety Manager, informed about KPO efforts on increasing and improving the Safety Culture, including the safety improvement journey, road safety improvement plan, and safety leadership and coaching programme for supervisors.

Annamaria Petrone, KPO Risk Manager, presented the strategy that was adopted to manage H2S emergencies in the field following a dual approach, consequence based and risk based.

Fabio Martinelli, KPO Digitalization Manager, made a report on the implementation progress of KPO Program of the Production Digitalization and all the related areas.

The most superior and innovative technologies are applied in the Karachaganak Field development. The Company strictly adheres to the sustainable development principles and best business practices. Environmental control, occupational safety and production energy efficiency are the top-priority tasks for the Company.
