URALSK, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 9 July 2021 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) announced the successful completion of two large-scale social projects in the West Kazakhstan Oblast, with a total spent funds of $3.1 million.
The opening of these facilities was timed to the Day of the Capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In particular, KPO has completed the construction of a Sports and Health Centre (SHC) in the village of Podstepnoye, Terektinski district, WKO.
The opening ceremony of this facility was attended by the WKO Administration, headed by the first deputy Akim of the Oblast Mukhtar Mankeyev and KPO and Contractors Management.
As noted by Adam Lowmass, KPO Deputy General Director / Operations Director, the facility is one of the ten physical training facilities, being built as part of KPO commitment to implement social and infrastructural projects in the WKO. KPO plans to begin construction of two more sports facilities with support from the WKO Akimat this year.
“I hope, this wonderful physical training facility will be the centre of the sports life of the region, both for the professionals and ordinary active leisure time fans,”-added Adam Lowmass.
The new physical training facility includes a universal gaming room for football, volleyball, basketball, mini-football, boxing and a gym.
All the premises of the physical training facility offer the required equipment and furniture that meet the modern standards.
Also, a solemn opening of the Central District hospital in Burlin region Aksai town took place after its huge reconstruction.
The activities for reconstruction of the hospital was carried out in the frame of the program for development of the region social infrastructure.
The existing wings of the central regional hospital were repaired in the course of the reconstruction; besides, the areas of the hospital were increased due to construction of the additional block.
As part of the project, a technical upgrade of the hospital was carried out: doctors received more than 20 items of medical equipment, including a modern computer tomography machine. This equipment will now allow to broaden by more than two-fold the range of diagnostic and treatment services provided by the hospital. The hospital has never had such equipment so far.
During the opening ceremony, Slushash Izbassarova KPO Human Resources Controller said: “The importance of this social project cannot be overestimated, especially given the current situation with the COVID pandemic. KPO will continue to undertake its best efforts to the development of social infrastructure within the region and strengthening the capacity of its medical institutions."
Today, Karachaganak takes a significant role in the social, economic and cultural development in West Kazakhstan Oblast. The list and priority of KPO social projects are determined jointly with WKO Akimat. It should be noted that solely Kazakh contractors are involved in execution of all KPO social projects. KPO actively cooperates with local suppliers and contractors, purchasing their goods and services and demonstrating an example of conducting a business in socially responsible way. Over the years of KPO's operation in West Kazakhstan oblast, hundreds of kilometres of new roads have been built and a number of new schools, hospitals, culture and sport facilities have been constructed and repaired. To date, KPO's overall investment into development of regional social infrastructure has exceeded $439 million.
