AKSAI, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 30 September, 2021 – A delegation of National Company KazMunayGas including the Deputy Chief Exploration and Production Officer, Zhakyp Marabayev, Director of Non-Operational Assets Department, Arman Tuyakov, and General Director of KMG Karachaganak, LLP, Kairat Nurakhmetov, held a meeting with top management of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO). The meeting was also attended by Renato Maroli, Operator Representative (Eni/AKA).
At the meeting, KPO General Director, Giancarlo Ruiu, presented operations activities, challenges, future business development model and strategies and shared the progress related to the 4th Injection Compressor Project (4ICP), which is currently nearing completion and start-up.
The 4ICP will add 10MM/d gas injection capacity to KPO’s facilities, enabling incremental liquids production from the Karachaganak field. This major project was sanctioned in April 2019. The project has provided substantial employment to local workforce with manpower peaking at 1600. The project’s local content in materials, goods and services is close to 50%.
The programme of the visit also focused on KPO Nationalisation plan and Development and Training initiatives for Local Talents. In this respect, there was a Q&A open session with a group of 13 local employees who have been working with KPO for several years and have been exposed to different working experiences, including international assignments and activities expanding their professional skills and knowledge.
KPO General Director, Giancarlo Ruiu, said: “To date, KPO Partners have invested nearly $30 billion into the development of the Karachaganak field. The established close relationship with the RoK Authorities guarantees that KPO’s long-term development plans match the RoK national agenda. This is the key to continued successful development of the Karachaganak project and the associated growth of the regional and national economy.
“KPO has a tremendous potential thanks to the well-coordinated teamwork, competence and unrelenting aspiration of the national staff of KPO. Our priorities remain the same - maintain the highest production and safety performance, whilst maximizing the value for RoK, stakeholders and communities”, added Giancarlo Ruiu.
At the end of the day KPO and KMG concluded that the meeting allowed an open and positive exchange of ideas, and an opportunity to renew commitment with the success of KPO as one of the major Operators in RoK.
