AKTAU, Mangistau Oblast, 3 June, 2022 — Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) took part in an environmental conference entitled «Responsible Business for Sustainable Development» in Aktau.
This event intentionally coinciding with the forthcoming World Environment Day on 5 June, took place upon an initiative from the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of RoK supported by the UN Development Programme.
The main focus of the conference that hosted more than 180 ecologists from the country’s industrial ventures and international organisations was on the exchange of experience in the most relevant areas of environment protection, climate change and legal regulations.
An environmental exhibition was also organised as a part of the conference, where KPO was represented by an information board highlighting the Company’s environmental activities.
In the course of a panel session Ruslan Mukangaliyev, KPO Environment Controller, delivered a speech titled «Waste as a new resource: experience and prospects», in which he outlined KPO main environmental achievements and experience in the waste management activities at the Karachaganak field.
«KPO has an efficient waste management system, a modern operating Eco-Centre for industrial and municipal waste processing and recycling, conforming to requirements of the world standards. It allows us to process a substantial part of industrial waste, which in its turn helps to lower the environmental impact significantly», — said Ruslan Mukangaliyev.
