ASTANA, Republic of Kazakhstan, April 14, 2023 — «Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.» (KPO) participated in the annual Oil and Gas Machine Building Forum.
The event was conducted at the initiative of the «International Center for the Development of Oil and Gas Machine Building» (IMB Center) with the support of the RoK Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, RoK Ministry of Energy, large oil and gas operators such as «Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V»., «North Caspian Operating Company N.V.» and «Tengizchevroil» LLP.
The management of the large oil and gas operators made presentations during the event.
Speaking to the domestic and international manufacturers, relevant authorities and other stakeholders KPO General Director Giancarlo Ruiu shared the company’s achievements with respect to cooperation with IMBC and future plans and outlined KPO internal Karachaganak Project Local Content development initiatives.
Addressing the forum participants Giancarlo Ruiu KPO General Director said:
«As far as IMBC is concerned, the extensive work and cooperation has already brought tangible results; for instance, for the first group of goods 9 contracts were awarded to local manufacturers. This will create 150 new jobs with local content commitments for up to 75%. Of course, the plans include a full set of activities aimed at developing manufacturers’ capabilities that may take more than one year to implement due to thorough gap analysis and evaluation of the local market potential. It is important to maintain the focus and the momentum and to assure that all stakeholders have realistic expectations regarding the full benefit and results of IMBC activities».
In conclusion, KPO General Director emphasized that the Company’s focus on LC development in goods has produced good results. «We will make every effort to ensure that local content remains the cornerstone for our development strategy as we strive to support governmental LC development initiatives.»
The forum participants said that not only the above event was a platform for meetings and discussions but it also provided an opportunity to identify gaps and build a plan for developing and enhancing the entire industry.
