TCO DELEGATION VISITED KARACHAGANAK, 25.05.2004

AKSAI, Western Kazakhstan Oblast, 25 May 2004 – A delegation comprised of five representatives from TengizChevroil (TCO) visited the Karachaganak field as part of working visit to the Western Kazakhstan Oblast.

In Uralsk, the TCO delegation headed by Total Supply Manager David Crockett met with local companies Metallist, Zenit, Gidropribor, Omega, Uralskagroremmash and Metalloizdeliya.

In Aksai, the TCO representatives met with KPO vendor development and qualification team who briefed them on how KPO has encouraged a better participation of the Kazakh companies in the Karachaganak project through training, technical and financial assistance, quality management and co-operation agreements.

KPO Vendor Development and Qualification Manager Giamil Bunkheila said: “KPO is recognised in Kazakhstan for its vendor development programme. During the second phase of the Karachaganak field development the Kazakh Content of contracts concluded totalled $1.3 billion with more than 500 Kazakh companies providing goods and services to the project and over 100 Kazakh companies attending country-wide commercial awareness seminars organised by KPO b.v”.

During the visit, the TCO guests have also toured the field, met representatives of KPO production & maintenance, engineering & development, infrastructure & services departments and conducted working meetings with KPO contractors AksaiGasService and BKKS.
