AKSAI, Western Kazakhstan Oblast, 21 January, 2014 ->A delegation of Republic of Kazakhstan officials headed by Vice-Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan, Magzum Mirzagaliev, and Deputy Akim of WKO, Marat Karimov, visited the Karachaganak field and held a working meeting with the top management of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO).  The guests were accompanied by the representatives of the Authority, PSA LLP, and local business representatives.

The meeting agenda focused on a discussion of local content aspect in the Karachaganak project development.  The guests were also familiarized with the results of KPO performance and the company’s contribution to the region’s social and economic development.

In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed issues relating to the Karachaganak expansion project, KPO procurement activities and tender procedures, as well as the company’s criteria imposed on suppliers.

KPO General Director, Damiano Ratti, noted that to date, KPO’s partners have invested more than $17 billion into the development of Karachaganak.  The KPO local vendor development programme has made it possible to bring more than 3 thousand Kazakh enterprises into the development of Karachaganak.  Overall, these companies have concluded contracts with KPO with a value exceeding $4 billion.

“KPO actively supports the development of Kazakh companies and implements a large number of projects that are aimed at fostering cooperation between international and Kazakh producers of goods and services, thus ensuring the mutual integration and transfer of advanced technologies into the industrial sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, said Damiano Ratti.

In his turn, Vice-Minister of Oil and Gas, Magzum Mirzagaliev, noted that currently the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was very interested in the development of industrial clusters around the major oil and gas projects, such as Karachaganak.

After the visit the guests expressed their satisfaction with KPO achievements in the development of the field and wished further success to all the personnel of the company.
