AKSAI, West Kazakhstan Oblast, 23 October, 2022 — Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) announces successful completion of 2022 Turnaround.
Giancarlo Ruiu, KPO General Director said: «I am pleased to announce that production at Karachaganak field has restarted after a safe and successful Turnaround. All of the planned work scope was achieved ensuring improved asset integrity, production and plant reliability».
The Turnaround KPO included a full field shut-down of Gathering, Karachaganak Processing Complex (KPC), Unit 2, Unit 3 and our export facilities at Atyrau and Bolshoi Chagan.
Up to 12,000 people on 24 hours basis were involved in Turnaround activities accounting a total man-hour worked nearly to 2.135 million.
Under the continuous supervision of KPO personnel, operations have been conducted safely with no major incidents neither leaks to environment.
A massive HSE training programme was performed pre-turnaround involving around 80 contractors and was delivered by the KPO training center. Also, 1814 HSE level 3 inspections and 88 HSE tours were conducted by KPO management to engage and communicate the strong Company’s commitment on safety.
During the Turnaround the following types of works were successfully completed:
- Mandatory statutory maintenance and inspections;
- Preventative and corrective maintenance;
- Plant modifications;
- Integrity Related Projects;
- KEP1A project tie-ins;
- 6th Trunkline project tie-ins.
«This year turnaround was one of the largest in KPO’s history. I am sure the delivery of the turnaround ahead of time and safely was the results of high level of support from all KPO staff and our contractors working as one team», added Giancarlo Ruiu.
The KPO Turnaround strategy was aimed at: ensuring safe, continuous operations, compliance with RoK regulatory requirements and maximizing operational efficiency. Together this leads to an optimized production performance of the Karachaganak field.
