Eighteen gifted national and international young musicians, aged between 18 and 30 will demonstrate their talents and performance skills at the 3rd International Violin Competition, which will be held in Uralsk from 17-24 March. The competition comes about as a result of a joint initiative between the renowned violinist Marat Bisengaliyev, the WKO Akimat and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V (KPO), which is acting as the general sponsor of this prestigious event.
The main objective of the competition is to assist talented young musicians to demonstrate their creative potential and to help them enter the international music scene.
As KPO General Director Paolo Campelli noted in his greeting to the participants and guests at the competition, “The development of young talent is a very complex and diverse thing, and participation in musical competitions such as this is an integral part of this process. That is why KPO has been especially pleased to support this prestigious musical forum for three consecutive years.”
Submissions to take part in this year’s competition were received from young performers from Japan, Germany, Austria, Romania, the United Kingdom, Russia, Byelorussia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Uzbekistan.
During the last few years, KPO has traditionally supported the development of culture in Western Kazakhstan. In 2003, the company contributed a number of unique musical instruments made in the 19th and early 20th centuries by famous craftsmen from France, England, Germany and the former Czechoslovakia to the Uralsk Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Marat Bisengaliyev. In addition, the orchestra was presented with an exclusive collection of new bows for violins, violas, cellos and double bass, all of which were hand-made in Britain, the KPO B.V. news release read.
